Teacher Appreciation

Few adults have such an impact on the lives of kids as their teachers. Teacher Appreciation Week, celebrated during the first full week of May, is the ideal time to honor teachers and recognize the lasting contributions they make in the lives of their students. Of course, you don't need an official day or week to say thank you to your teacher, and there are as many ways to show your gratitude as there are students in the classroom. Teachers get a lot of "stuff" from their students (and appreciative parents)—and most teachers will tell you they don't need another apple for their desk. A few gifts that teachers really want include donations of classroom supplies, gift cards for their favorite restaurants or stores, stationery to write thank-you cards, and handwritten notes from the heart, especially those from the kids.

Other fun ways to say thank you include a homemade craft, straight from your hands to their heart, trendy desk accessories or relaxation gifts for bath and body that let them pamper themselves. Whether it's from Hallmark or handmade from your child, don't forget a heartfelt teacher appreciation card. Bring your A-plus game and dress up your gift with gift wrap suitable for the head of the class. If none of these strike the right note, read more ways to let teachers know what a different they have made in your child's life.
